Summer Carnival

Summer Carnival in Buġibba

The Summer Carnival in Buġibba will be held on Saturday 22^nd and Sunday 23^rd August 2015. 

Traffic management will be as follows:

Saturday 22^nd August between 18:00hrs and 24:00hrs:

Vehicular traffic will not be allowed along the promenade between Triq Buġibba and The Malta National Aquarium. All vehicular traffic including the buses will be diverted onto Triq it-Turisti.

Sunday 23^rd August between 18:00hrs and 24:00hrs:

Traffic along the promenade will be allowed up to the Malta National Aquarium until 20:00hrs.

Triq it-Turisti will be closed to traffic between 20:00hrs and 24:00hrs but access through the promenade will be available.

As from 21:00hrs, traffic in the promenade, between Buġibba Square and Triq L-Imsell will be controlled by the Police Officers.

Access to the bus terminus will be available on both days.

Any inconvenience is regretted.

Carnival Events in Żebbuġ, Paola, Qormi, Naxxar and Santa Venera

The following roads will be temporarily closed due to various Carnival events.

Żebbug – 13 February 2015

Pjazza San Filep will be closed to traffic between 17:00hrs and 23:00 hrs

Vehicles coming from Triq il-Kbira will be diverted onto Triq L-Isqof Caruana, Triq Mons Milanesi and onto Triq Scortino. Vehicles coming from Vjal il-Haddiem will proceed around the central strip at Triq Sciortino. Vehicles coming from Triq il-Kbira will be diverted onto Triq Luret Vella and onto Triq Scortino.

Public Transport:

Bus routes 61 and 209 coming from Valletta will proceed around the central strip at Triq Scortino.  No bus service will be provided at Żebbug square.

Bus route 109 proceeding from Attard towards Żebbug will be diverted onto Żebbug By Pass, Vjal il-Helsien, proceed around the central strip at Triq Sciortino and follow the normal route.

Paola  – 13 February 2015

Pjazza Antoine De Paule, from the Parish Church to the Polyclinic, will be closed to traffic between 17:00hrs and 20:00hrs

Vehicular traffic proceeding from the roundabout of Triq Tal-Barrani will be diverted onto Triq il-Foss near the polyclinic, and may either proceed to Triq Sant’ Ubaldesca or to Triq il-Ġdida towards Triq il-Belt Valletta.

Vehicles coming from Marsa will be diverted onto Triq Haż-Żabbar in Fgura. Vehicles coming from Fgura will not be affected as drivers may proceed around the square.

Public transport:

Bus route X7 proceeding to Birgu will not provide service at Paola centre but will proceed to Vjal Santa Luċija onto Triq Aldo Moro proceed towards the roundabout and back towards Paola MCAST through Vjal Sir Paul Boffa and follow the normal route.

Bus routes X2, X3, 83 and 226 coming from Triq Aldo Moro will be diverted onto Vjal Santa Luċija. Bus service at Paola centre will not be provided. The return journey will follow the same route.

Bus routes 81, 82 and 210 proceeding from Triq Aldo Moro to Tarxien will be diverted onto Triq Palma and proceed to Tarxien. The return journey from Tarxien will be diverted at the junction onto Triq Luqa and proceed towards the roundabout at Triq Tal-Barrani and onto Vjal Santa Luċija.

Qormi  – 13 February 2015

Pjazza San Franġisk will be closed to traffic from 18:00hrs onwards

All vehicular traffic will be diverted onto Triq Aniċi.

Public Transport:

Bus route 63 coming from Ta’ Farzina Housing Estate will not proceed towards San Ġorġ church but will be diverted onto Triq L-Isqof Scicluna, Triq Aniċi and proceed in the direction of Qormi Police Station and follow the normal route.

Naxxar  – 15 February 2015

Triq il-Labour Naxxar, from Triq il-Ġdida to Vjal 21 ta’ Settembru, will be closed to traffic between 08:00hrs and 14:00hrs

Vehicular traffic coming from Triq il-Mosta will be diverted onto Triq il-Ġdida, near the playing fields. Traffic coming from Triq Tal-Barrani will be diverted onto Triq 21 ta’ Settembru and onto Triq Franġisku Pisani.

Public transport and heavy vehicles:

Buses and heavy vehicles will be diverted onto Triq Franġisku Pisani and onto Vjal 21 ta’ Settembru.

St. Venera  – 16 February 2015

Triq il-Kbira San Ġużepp, from Triq il-Parroċċa to Triq l-Imsida, will be closed to traffic between 13:30hrs and 18:00hrs

Vehicular traffic coming from Hamrun will be diverted onto Triq il-Parroċċa and onto Triq il-Kanun.  Traffic may also be diverted onto Triq Imsida, Triq Misraħ il-Barrieri, Triq il-Harrub and onto Triq Psaila.

Vehicular traffic coming from Rabat will be diverted either onto Triq il-Kanun or onto Triq Braille or onto Triq Hal Qormi.

Public transport:

Bus route 42, 51, 52, 53, 55 and 123 proceeding towards Valletta will be diverted at the roundabout of Fleur De Lys onto Triq il-Kanun and onto Triq il-Kbira San Gużepp. Buses proceeding towards Rabat will follow the same diversion.

Motorists are advised to proceed with caution. Any inconvenience is regretted.
