Road works in Mellieħa

Transport Malta is carrying out road works in Triq il-Qammieħ Mellieħa, road leading from the area of it-Torri l-Aħmar to Għadira Bay.  Works are expected to be ready in ten days’ time because of extensive concrete works.

Road will remain accessible but traffic will be diverted onto one lane for each direction.

Drivers are encouraged to slow down when reaching the area and to follow instructions by the officials on site.

Works in Swieqi

Works in Swieqi, in the tunnels in Triq M A Vassalli and the area

Transport Malta will carry out resurfacing works in part of Triq il-Qasam and part of Triq San Andrija. To reduce  inconvenience to traffic, major works will be carried out  tonight  between 20:00hrs and 05:00hrs. Minor works will be completed tomorrow during the day.

Road will remain accessible but no parking will be allowed along the road. 


Transport Malta will carry out resurfacing works in the tunnels in Triq Mikiel Anton Vassalli in both directions. Works will be carried out this week, at night  between 20:00hrs and 05:00hrs.

During works, the tunnels will remain accessible with traffic being diverted onto one lane for each direction.  During the day, the tunnels will be fully accessible.

Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area as much as possible, to drive with caution and to follow instructions by the officials on site.

Works in Castille Square

Works at Castille Square by The Grand Harbour Regeneration Corporation

The Grand Harbour Regeneration Corporation will carry out asphalting works this evening, between 18:00hrs and 22:00hrs.

Upper part of Castille Square with Triq Pope Pius V, before the parking area of the Central Bank, will be closed to traffic during works.

Motorists are advised to remove their cars from the parking area before 18:00hrs.

New traffic arrangements in San Ġwann

Kappara: alternative routes

New Traffic Arrangements

Following the completion of roadworks in Vjal ir-Rihan San Ġwann, Transport Malta will implement line markings and new signage between 19:00hrs today and 07:00hrs tomorrow morning.

As from Saturday 18th after 07:00hrs, traffic from Triq Tal-Balal will be diverted onto Triq Salvu Busuttil, onto Triq Caruana Dingli and onto Vjal ir-Rihan. Access to the service road at Vjal ir-Rihan will only be permitted from Triq Caruana Dingli. Parking along the service road will be re-organised according to the new traffic flow.

These traffic arrangements are part of the alternative routes during works on the Kappara Project.

Resurfacing of Kirkop Junction

Transport Malta will resurface Kirkop Junction.  Works will start tonight and continue the following night.  On both nights, works will start at 20:30 and finish early in the morning to minimise traffic disruption.

The junction will remain accessible to vehicles but parts of the carriageways will be restricted at different times.  

Kindly avoid the area when possible. Follow the temporary signs and official’s instructions.

Works in Swieqi

Road construction, teamwork

Transport Malta have commissioned works on the service road of Triq il-Qasam, Swieqi to improve the traffic flow. Contractor will start works tomorrow morning.

No parking will be allowed along the road.  Traffic going through Triq Sant’ Andrija in Pembroke will not be affected. 

Kindly follow temporary signs, official’s instructions and drive carefully.

Maintenance work in Triq Sant’Andrija Pembroke

Following the maintenance work carried out in Triq Sant’Andrija Pembroke,  Transport Malta will apply the wearing course tomorrow Wednesday 25thMay, between 20:00hrs and 06:00hrs. 

 Traffic towards St. Paul’s Bay will be diverted onto Triq Normandy and onto Triq Falaise.  During works, traffic in Triq Falaise will proceed in one direction only towards Triq Sant’ Andrija, Pembroke.

Traffic from St. Paul’s Bay will be diverted onto Triq Suffolk towards the traffic lights in Pembroke.  During works, traffic in Triq Suffolk between Triq Sant’Andrija and Triq Falaise will proceed in one direction only towards Triq Alamein.
