Mare Forum – a success

Mare Forum-4

Malta successfully hosts first Mare Forum Maritime Conference

Last week, Malta hosted the first Mare Forum Conference, an international high profile maritime event that brings together a cross section of the industry with the aim of discussing the recent and future opportunities of the maritime industry with particular focus on the Mediterranean.  The forum, with more than 200 participants from European, Mediterranean and African maritime, shipping and energy industries, was a good opportunity to showcase Maritime Malta.

Believing in the Island’s maritime ambitions and in Maritime Malta’s abilities, as a respected key player in the industry, Transport Malta enthusiastically supported this event by becoming its leading sponsor, a move aimed at further consolidating Malta’s reputation as one of the leading maritime nations.

The forum discussed major contemporary issues currently influencing the maritime industries, the financial situation, energy offshore business and investments among other topics and was attended by renowned ship owners, operators and bankers who shared their views and opinions. In the light of one of the most tragic incidents that sadly unfolded earlier this week in the Mediterranean sea, the phenomenon of immigration in the region was constantly featured during the debate. The forum also served as a good platform for local stakeholders to share their views and establish better contacts with foreign stakeholders who attended the conference within a stimulating, lively and thought-provoking atmosphere.

The Prime Minister, Hon Joseph Muscat, Hon. Joe Mizzi, Hon. Konrad Mizzi and Hon Justyne Caruana, representing the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean addressed the forum.
