Increase in Annual Circulation Licence Fees

Staggered Increase to the Annual Circulation Licence Fees for M1 Vehicles that expire as of January 2015 onwards

The Annual Circulation Licence Fee for vehicles with up to eight seats besides the driver’s seat (category M1) registered on or after the 1st January 2009 and having CO2 emissions of more than 100g/km will have a staggered increase ranging between €5 to €15 annually as of the 1st January 2015.

The annual circulation licence fee for vehicles which were registered on or after 1st January 2009 and with a CO 2 of 100g/km or less will not increase. The Increases will be as follows:

The Annual Circulation Licence Fee for Category M1 vehicles (passenger carrying vehicles with up to eight seats besides the driver’s seat) registered before the 1st January 2009, will  have a staggered increase ranging between €5 and €15 annually as of the 1st January 2015.

Vintage Motorcycles

Vintage motorcycles with a cubic capacity of less than 250cc had their Registration Tax removed.

Motorcycles with a cubic capacity of less than 250cc and approved vintage by the vintage classification committee will be exempt from the payment of registration tax.

Furthermore, Budget 2015 measures meant that the definition of  both ‘vintage vehicle’ and ‘vehicle classification committee’ were amended.   The right of appeal was also introduced, so any decision taken by the vintage classification committee can be appealed.

On another note, offences were introduced for defaulters.

Reduction of registration tax for Quadbikes – 18th November

The Registration Tax payable for Quad Bikes and ATV’s was reduced by approximately 50% as from the 18th November 2014.

The old registration tax was calculated using this formula:

cubic capacity (cc) multiplied by the Registration Value (RV) multiplied by 0.18%

this formula was reduced as follows

President’s run and walk – 23rd November

With reference to the President’s run/walk which will be held next Sunday 23rd November, the following traffic management will be adopted.

Pjazza Antoine De Paule will be closed for all vehicular traffic from 08:30 to 10:30.

Vehicles coming from Marsa from Triq Dicembru 13 will be diverted through the underpass to the Triq Xatt L-Ghassara tal-Gheneb from 10:00 to 13:00

Various roads through the walk will be temporarily closed for traffic until participants passes through until all routes will meet at Triq Nazzjonali Floriana near Bombi and will move to Triq Sant’ Anna. Once everhone had reached Triq Sant’Anna, vehicles will be diverted to Triq Sarria.

The public is solicited to use as much as possible the public transport to access Valletta.

Msida Roads Closed tonight

Road Works at Msida/Pieta Bus Priority Project  are continuing at night to alleviate traffic congestion.

The Msida/Pieta Bus priority project is one of the ongoing projects to improve traffic flow.

The project requires numerous road works, most of which are being carried at night.

Today 17th November night, after 21:00hrs :

1.     Road Closed from Triq MA Vassalli (Skate Park Junction) towards Valletta and towards rue D’Argens, Gzira.

Vehicles coming from Triq MA Vassalli will be diverted counterflow into the traffic light junction towards Valletta.  Traffic towards Rue D’Argens, Gzira will proceed through Triq Regjonali to Kappara Junction and down to Gzira.

2.     Road will be closed from Triq il-Wied tal-Msida direction Rue D’ Argens, Gzira and Valletta. 

Vehicles coming from Birkirkara towards Gzira are to proceed through Triq San Alwigi towards Msida Circus and then to Gzira.  In addition, vehicles from Wied tal-Msida towards Valletta will be directed  through slip road in Triq il-Wied tal-Msida to Triq Regjonali and then to Valletta through Santa Venera / Hamrun.

Today 17th November night, after 23:00hrs until the early hours of the following morning :

1.     There will be no access from Triq MA Vassalli (skatepark junction) directly towards Valletta and/or Gzira from ix-Xatt tal-Msida.  The road will be closed due to asphalting works.

Traffic from Birkirkara towards Valletta is to proceed through Triq MA Vassalli and then through Triq Regjonali to Kappara Junction and back to Triq ix-Xatt tal-Msida from Triq Testaferrata, Triq Princess Margaret towards Pieta’.

Traffic from Triq Regjonali  towards Valletta may also proceed from Triq Regjonali through Triq Psaila and towards Valletta from Santa Venera / Hamrun area.

Vehicles coming from Valletta are not allowed to proceed towards Skate Park (Triq MA Vassalli) but traffic will be diverted to Triq Regjonali from Triq San Alwigi and through Msida Circus.
